Picking Up A Hard Backhand Pass

Get Full Access

This video demonstrates how to pick up a hard backhand pass effectively by focusing on hand positioning, blade control, and proper technique.

Coaching Points:

  • Hand Positioning: Keep hands away from the body with the top hand up and the bottom hand strong for better control.
  • Blade Positioning: Cup the blade slightly to provide a stable surface and prevent the puck from bouncing off.
  • Receive with Control: As the puck comes through your feet, pull back slightly on the stick with your bottom hand to cushion and control the puck.
  • Set the Puck: Aim to bring the puck into your shooting box (area beside your body) for a quick release or play.
  • Practice Consistency: Start with stationary drills and gradually add speed to improve comfort with receiving hard backhand passes.
