This video highlights three key tips for improving puck handling skills in hockey.

Coaching Points:

  1. Hand Positioning: Keep your top hand up and away from your body, with the bottom hand positioned at a comfortable width, either hip-width or forearm-width apart. This hand positioning is essential for effective puck handling as well as for executing shots.

  2. Control Hand and Power Hand: Understand the distinct roles of your hands. The top hand is your control hand, which guides and moves your blade, while the bottom hand acts as your power hand, adding strength and stability to your stick as you handle the puck.

  3. Cup Your Blade: Always cup your blade over the puck on both forehand and backhand sides. This technique helps to maintain control over the puck and makes stickhandling smoother and more efficient.

By focusing on these tips, players can develop better puck control, leading to enhanced creativity and more scoring opportunities during games.
