This video provides three valuable tips to improve puck control and scoring around the net.

Coaching Points:

  1. Strong Bottom Hand: Focus on using a strong bottom hand on your stick to control the puck when making contact near the net. On the forehand, push the puck toward the net with force, and on the backhand, pull it in to ensure solid contact for finishing plays.

  2. Drive to the Net: Players should drive their shoulders toward the net instead of veering off to the corner. This helps create scoring opportunities and capitalize on rebounds or loose pucks around the crease.

  3. Cup Your Blade: Keep your stick blade cupped when making contact, whether on the forehand or backhand. This technique helps direct the puck accurately and prevents it from bouncing off the blade or missing the net.

By practicing these tips, players can be more effective in tight areas and increase their chances of converting scoring opportunities around the net.
