Fitting a Hockey Stick

This video explains how to properly fit a hockey stick for a player, ensuring it enhances their on-ice performance.

Coaching Points:

  1. Stick Length: The stick should ideally reach between the player’s nose and chin when they're off the ice. On skates, this measurement will translate to the proper fit.

  2. Proper Measuring: When off skates, have the player stand on their tip toes to approximate the height difference.

  3. Stick Size: Ensure the player is using the correct stick size. A junior stick for younger, smaller players, an intermediate stick for older youth, and a senior stick for older, larger players.

  4. Importance of Fit: A stick that is too long or too short can negatively impact shooting, passing, and overall play.

These guidelines will help ensure the stick is suited to the player's size and needs, helping them develop their skills effectively.
