Get Full Access

This video introduces a simple passing drill where two players pass back and forth, emphasizing proper hand positioning, blade control, and maintaining flat passes.

Coaching Points:

  1. Head Up: Always keep your head up to see your partner and anticipate passes.
  2. Give a Good Target: Players should provide a clear target with their stick blade to make receiving passes easier.
  3. Cradle the Puck: Receive the pass by cradling the puck with a soft touch to maintain control.
  4. Proper Hand Positioning: For forehand passes, push with the bottom hand while keeping the blade cupped; for backhand passes, pull with the bottom hand.
  5. Keep Passes Flat: Focus on making sure the puck stays flat on the ice by maintaining proper blade positioning during passes.
  6. Add Variety: Coaches can increase the difficulty by adding movement or specific objectives to this basic drill.
