Quick Tip: Wrist Shot

Get Full Access

This video provides three coaching points on how to improve your wrist shot.

Coaching Points:

  1. Hand Positioning: Keep your top hand up and away from your body, while your bottom hand should be about 1/4 of the way down your stick in a strong position.

  2. Blade Control: Maintain a cupped blade throughout your shot to ensure better control and accuracy.

  3. Puck Positioning and Release: Begin the shot with the puck on the heel of the blade and roll it towards the toe during the release.

Remember that power for a wrist shot comes from both your lower body and your bottom hand. Transfer your weight from your back foot to your front foot, and push with your bottom hand as you release the shot. Focus on shooting quality pucks rather than just volume.
