Get Full Access

This video provides three coaching points on how to improve your backhand shot.

Coaching Points:

  1. Hand Positioning: Keep your top hand up and away from your body, and position your bottom hand about 1/4 of the way down your stick for better control and leverage.

  2. Pull with Your Bottom Hand: Use your bottom hand to pull through when finishing your backhand shot. This motion helps generate power and accuracy.

  3. Weight Transfer: Transfer your weight from your back foot to your front foot as you execute the shot to maximize power and follow through.

The backhand shot can be difficult for goalies to read, so practicing this technique regularly can help players score more goals in game situations.
