This video explains the fundamentals of passing and receiving for beginner players, focusing on proper hand positioning, blade control, and technique.

Coaching Points:

  1. Forehand Pass: Ensure hands have good separation, with the top hand away from the body. Push with the bottom hand and cup the blade.
  2. Backhand Pass: Pull with the bottom hand, keeping the blade cupped while sweeping the puck for better control.
  3. Pass Reception: Keep the stick out in front, with the blade cupped, and cradle the puck to absorb the pass and maintain control.
  4. Cradling: Avoid being too stiff when receiving passes to prevent the puck from bouncing off the stick.
  5. Backhand Reception: Position the blade correctly and transfer the puck to the forehand if needed for quicker shooting or passing.
  6. Practice: Repetition of passing and receiving is crucial for improving offensive and defensive play.
