Inside Look Evasive Pass Drill

Get Full Access

This video demonstrates a drill focused on helping players develop evasive passing skills by using fakes and body language to mislead defenders before passing.

Coaching Points:

  1. Use of Fakes: Approach the obstacle and execute a convincing shot fake, including head and eye movement, to sell the shot before passing.
  2. Body Positioning: Ensure the player’s body, eyes, and stick align toward the net to make the fake more believable.
  3. Timing of Pass: Slide the pass across to the teammate at the last possible moment to catch the defender or goalie off-guard.
  4. Obstacle Navigation: Move around obstacles, like bumpers or cones, to simulate real-game congestion and practice precise movements.
  5. Goal Awareness: The receiving player should focus on positioning their stick well for a quick and effective shot on net.
  6. Progressive Difficulty: Gradually add additional obstacles or a coach as a passive defender to increase the challenge.
